The big band sound is back.

After a successful midwinter tea dance at the West End Hall last year, the Bay City Big Band is performing again this weekend.

This time, the band will play for an autumn tea dance at the Scottish Hall in Barnard St on Sunday from 2pm to 4pm.

The band, with saxophone, trumpet, bass and rhythm sections, was formed in the late 1990s, but went into recess in about 2005 before reviving again a couple of years ago.

Band spokesman Kent Smith said the two hours of music would offer plenty of opportunities for people to put their dancing shoes on, no matter what genre they favoured. Tickets, which include afternoon tea, are $20 per person, and available at Newmans MusicWorks in Stafford St.
