British motoring brilliance is set to once again be celebrated this King’s Birthday weekend.
On Sunday, May 31, the South Canterbury Vintage Car Club will be holding its annual All British Day rally.
Co-organiser Kevin Manchester said he hoped to see a strong turnout despite the recent rise in petrol prices.
“Last year we had about 100 cars, I’d be delighted if we got that again. Hopefully petrol won’t put too many people off.”
Anyone was welcome to join the rally and just needed to bring their British vehicle and a $20 entry fee to the northern area of the Caroline Bay carpark on Sunday morning, Mr Manchester said.
‘‘We are going to have a raffle as well and the public are more than welcome to come down and have a look at the cars between 9am and 10.30am before we depart for the rally.”
The money raised from the rally would be donated to a yet-to-be decided charity.
The rally will also be stopping off at St Andrews school for a sausage sizzle and bacon butty lunch to support the school’s Ski/Skate day fundraiser.
St Andrews PTA chair Amy Scott said the school was also excited to host the club on the rally day as part of the fundraiser.
“We welcome the wider community to come down to the school on Blue Cliffs Rd from midday onwards to have a bite to eat and enjoy the vehicles that will be on display.”
