An embroidery exhibition at The Aigantighe Art Gallery will leave no loose ends.

The Aoraki Embroiderers’ Guild annual exhibition of work — ‘‘Keep Calm and Stitch’’ — comprises a collection of completed works from embroiderers around the area.

Guild spokeswoman Rebecca Toole said the embroidery work was ‘‘of exceptional standard’’.

Ms Toole said coinciding with the exhibition, Aigantighe Art Gallery had been fortunate to be selected by Anzeg (The Association of New Zealand Embroiderers’ Guilds Inc) to be one of only two galleries to host several pieces from their annual colour challenge exhibition.

This year’s competition was called ‘‘Colour Blue’’.

She said the guild was very proud of one of their members — Fiona Crowther Aker — who won a merit prize for her piece The Blue Lotus and The Dragonfly.

‘‘Fiona is already a nationally recognised embroiderer and this prize adds to her wonderful portfolio of achievements.’’

She said both sections of this year’s exhibition were ‘‘well worth a visit to see what our local talent can create, as well as embroiderers from around New Zealand’’.

The exhibition will be held at the gallery until November 9.
