A new event aims to hit the right note for conservation.
The Eco Echo Music Festival was created to celebrate the musical talents of young people across the region.
Event organiser Chris Konings said the festival aimed to bring together primary and secondary school bands to perform, connect, and showcase their music in a supportive and vibrant community space.
‘‘Not only is this a celebration of music, but it’s also a fundraiser for the South Canterbury Eco Youth — a youth-led initiative established last year to amplify the voices of youth in the environmental, biodiversity, and sustainability space.’’
Mr Konings said the group worked to provide opportunities for young people to engage in environmental projects, build a deeper connection with nature, and take action which benefited both the community and the planet.
‘‘All profit from this festival will go directly towards supporting these initiatives.’’
He said all were welcome to watch the bands perform.
‘‘Bring your friends and family.’’
The event will be held at the Eco Centre — next to the Crows Nest — on Sunday from 4pm to 9pm. Tickets are $10 (under 13 $5 and under 5 free).
Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
