They won’t be singing for their supper, but they are hoping to sing for someone else’s.

Two fundraising events in Timaru and Geraldine next week will raise money for a foodbank and Ocean’s Grief and Loss service.

Rhyth-Mix Singers choir director Glenys Carson said this year the four-part harmony choir would cover a range of genres, including music from Abba, The Bee Gees, The Carpenters and more.

Each year the event supported a different charity, she said.

The choir was asked if there was a cause it wanted to raise money for. “So we can support something close to their heart.”

Guest appearances at the events would be made by barber shop chorus Height of Harmony and Geraldine Primary School pupil Molly Fetu.

The choir had decided to perform in the afternoon, so people could bring their older friends and family along. Refreshments would be offered afterward.
