A splash of colour has brightened up the entrance to the Temuka Outdoor Pool.
The mural had been an idea of the previous community board.
Organiser Nicola Nimo said it had been a long time in eventuating for a variety of reasons.
‘‘We decided we had to get on with it.’’
Once they decided to push on, everything fell into place quickly.
As the artist Koryu was heading to the North Island to take part in a street art festival, there was only a week to get it painted or it would have to be put off until the following year, Mrs Nimo said.
‘‘It was a tight window, but thankfully the weather played ball.’’
The way the mural had been painted allowed for it to be added to, she said.
It was the first new mural painted in Temuka in many years. While there were two others in the township, they were looking ‘‘worse for wear’’.
