
In the last week South Canterbury has played host to a feast of high-level sport.
The Trust Aoraki Midlands PSA and District Squash Open took place in a storage facility in Temuka and featured many of the world’s best up-andcoming professional players.
After five days of scintillating squash, New Zealander and top seed Ella Lash picked up her maiden PSA Challenger title in the women’s final while countryman Elijah Thomas, ranked 100th in the world, fell to the 89th ranked and former world junior champion Rowan Damming, of the Netherlands.
Sunday saw the start of the prestigious Vantage National U18 Men’s Tournament at the Trust Aoraki Hockey Centre in Timaru.
The tournament featured 21 of the best men’s U18 teams from around the country. Packed full of future New Zealand hockey stars, games will take place daily and conclude on Saturday, July 5.
