New Zealand Secondary Schools Track, Field and Road Race Championships

More than 1000 top high school track and field athletes from around the country took to the Aorangi Park all-weather athletics track last weekend for the 51st New Zealand Secondary Schools Track, Field and Road Race Championships. Reporter Connor Haley captured some of the opening day’s action.

Lauren Blackmore (Craighead) 1st, para junior girls discus, 20.49m, 1st, para junior shot put, 7.65m and 1st para junior javelin throw, 17.44m. Finn Tregurtha-Nairn (TBHS) 1st, para junior boy’s 100m, 13.10sec and 1st, para junior long jump, 4.41m. Briar Craig (Waimate High School) 3rd girl’s javelin throw 500g, 29.27m. Toby Winter (TBHS) 1st, junior boy’s triple jump, 12.89m. Hunter Stevenson (TBHS) 2nd, junior boy;s triple jump, 12.61m.
