IT started with a noise, an awkward silence, some giggles Mountainview High School pupil’s first children’s book.

Awahono School deputy principal Amanda Bailey (nee Davey) grew up in Timaru, and attended Temuka Primary School and Mountainview High School.

Last week, she launched her debut novel, Did My Teacher Fart? in Greymouth.

The story was inspired by real events.

When Mrs Bailey was teaching maths to a young boy, her foot slipped and made a funny noise.

The boy was horrified, as he thought his teacher had passed gas right in front of him.

While her pupil learned nothing that maths lesson, Mrs Bailey laughed all the way home, she recalled.

The moment became an integral part of her children’s book.

Her family from Timaru attended the book launch at the Grey District Library.Running SneakersNike News
