It appears Walter the Birman cat has used up the last of his lives.
Walter, who featured in The Courier on May 2, went missing that day, less than a fortnight after being shot for a second time.
While outside briefly to go to the toilet the three-legged cat — who was still recovering from surgery found his chance to head off on another adventure.
Sadly, he never returned.
Walter’s owner, Amanda Tulley, said the family had searched extensively for him over the last month.
The cat was shot by a slug gun last November at close range. The pellet went down Walter’s leg, shattering his bones.
The family had to make the decision to amputate his leg.
On April 20 — some time between 11am and 1.30pm — three-legged Walter was shot for a second time just above his shoulder.
Mrs Tulley said she and her family presume he has been killed.
She wanted to warn everyone in the Gleniti area — by the Gleniti golf course — to lock up their pets.
She also wanted to warn people to take care when walking up to the water tank area of the golf course.
Mrs Tulley said the family were very disappointed to live in a neighbourhood with people who would shoot a well-loved family pet.
She has contacted the police, but is still waiting to hear back.
‘‘I have also reported it to the SPCA.
‘‘We miss Walter terribly.’’
