The summer season is starting to pick up and Speight’s Ale House owner/operator Jane Bowen is looking forward to it.
They are starting to fill jobs and will be fully operational this summer, she said.
‘‘It is good, at the moment we have sold three out of our four nights for our Christmas banquets and we are able to host Christmas parties and we have got our line up of live music booked in.’’
Mrs Bowen said things have been changing and they just had to go with it.
‘‘Everyone’s in the same boat. We are all trying to pay the same bills.’’
She said their team had been really good at accommodating change and adjusting to the changes.
‘‘[We are] super stoked with our team, we have a superstar team.
‘‘They all have a great attitude and work ethic, even though we have thrown them in the deep end a bit.’’
Their customers were understanding of the changes and locals had been supportive.
‘‘It’s been great and we have a few changes in the works for the summer season people can look forward to.’’
One of the things that has been a struggle — as with many other industries — was the rising cost of consumables.
‘‘Within the last 12 months products and supplies have all gone up and it ends up falling back on to the consumer.
‘‘The Government have been changing things fast and it is hard to keep up with everything.’’
But she said it had been nice to have the Covid-19 restrictions removed and get back to normal.
