Chance to have pets snapped with Santa

Festive fun . . . Rotary Club of Timaru president Cheryl Rose, with Pirate, is looking forward to helping people have photos of their pets taken with Santa.

Families are being offered the chance to have a photo taken of their furry family members with Santa Claus.

Rotary Club of Timaru is holding the fundraiser for the first time.

‘‘There are so many dogs around town and we thought it would be a good fundraiser,’’ club president Cheryl Rose said.

Photographs would be taken against a scenic backdrop and the sessions would be be held in a confined space, Ms Rose said.

People and their pets would wait in an enclosed garden before moving to a small room, where the pets would have their photo taken with Santa, she said.

‘‘It will be safe for all pets. It is just going to be fun chaos, and the animals will get a free bandanna and there will be a bag of treats thanks to our sponsors.’’

The club already had quite a few bookings, including some people booking in for their cat, she said.

Rotary Club of Timaru would put the funds raised towards the community through youth programmes, leadership and career programmes among other things, Ms Rose said.

‘‘In that sense, it is very productive to give back to different things in the community.’’

The photo sessions will be held at Park Centre Rotary Nook at the Timaru Botanical Gardens from 9am-4pm on December 11.

People can book a session by contacting Ms Rose on 027 540-3141.
