Residents interested in standing in the local government elections later this year are invited to a candidate information evening on July 4.
Seats on the Timaru District Council, Environment Canterbury, South Canterbury District Health Board or Geraldine Licensing Trust will be contested in the local body elections.
There are also three community boards in the Timaru district: Geraldine, Temuka and Pleasant Point.
Candidate nominations open on July 19 and will close at noon on August 16.
Polling will be held on October 12 but voting papers will be sent out from September 20 and can be returned from that date.
A public meeting for residents considering throwing their hat in the ring will be held at the Timaru District Council chambers on Thursday, July 4 from 6pm until about 8pm. Those attending will hear what is involved in holding local office as well as further information about the election process.best Running shoes brandNike
