Spirit of giving alive in Temuka

by Chris Tobin

Temuka 9-year-old William Gamblin has caught the Christmas spirit.

Last year he told his parents that rather than having presents for himself, he wanted to give presents away.

“We researched various charities, but none fitted his requirements. He wanted to keep it in our local community,” his mother, Elyse Gamblin, said.

Eventually he decided to set up a Facebook page, “The Temuka Giving Tree”, to help support those in need in Temuka who put others before themselves and helped spread the community spirit.

Nominations of recipients could be made on the Facebook page or on forms available at Temuka Library.

Donations were dropped off at the library, local kindergartens and at St Joseph’s School where William is a pupil.

Just before Christmas, volunteers came together to wrap the gifts before they were delivered.

This year’s gifts will be wrapped at the Trinity Church Hall on December 22.Authentic Nike SneakersWomens Shoes Footwear & Shoes Online
