Entertainers, volunteers and donations are being sought for this year’s Waimate Community Christmas Dinner.
The dinner is being held on Christmas Day from noon to 2.30pm at the St Patrick’s Church hall in Cameron St, and is free for anyone who would appreciate company and a festive meal.
A team from the Waimate churches and community, co-ordinated by vicar of the Waimate district the Rev Indrea Alexander, has organised the dinners for six years.
There would be food for 100 diners, and people could book or simply turn up on the day, she said.
“We are dependent on the goodwill of the community to make it happen well, and to let people know it’s on.”
As well as needing people to help set up, assist during the meal and clean up, offers are sought from drivers with easily accessible vehicles to assist with transporting people to and from the dinner.
