Three Timaru skaters returned from the World Roller Games in Barcelona, Spain richer for the experience.
In her first appearance at this level, junior woman Charlotte Clarke impressed with three top performances.
She placed 20th in the 15,000 road elimination, 22nd in the road 10,000 points and 25th in the 10,000 track points elimination.
Keaton Swindells performed solidly in the under-19 competition, finishing 23rd out of 53 in the road race elimination and 28th out of 56 in the 10km track race.
Experienced senior skater Dale Christofferson had high expectations of achieving some top-10 finishes, but struggled. A placing of 20th in the road 500 was his best result of the games.
Timaru coach Bill Begg said Clarke and Swindells would now be aiming to make the New Zealand team for next year’s world championships in Medellin, Colombia.
