The TiMOru Soapbox Derby will be back again next year after a highly successful event on Sunday.
A total of 54 soapboxes of all shapes and descriptions zoomed down George St to the delight of hundreds of spectators.
“There was a cool vibe, it was fantastic, a great success,” one of the organisers Felicity Bruce said.
“The goal of the event is to raise awareness of Movember and get people connecting, spending time together, creating support for mental health and men’s health.
“We wanted it for fathers and sons spending time together, now it has spread to families.”
Junior racing, in which there were 24 entered, started in the morning and by the early afternoon the number of spectators swelled to more than 1000 watching the 30 adult entrants with their wild riding, thrills and spills.
Winners were: junior section, Team Schumacher; open, Low Budget; corporate and overall winner, Parr & Co.
