Run Timaru’s popular 3km series has returned to Caroline Bay.

The running series, designed for people of all levels, started on Tuesday night.

Last year numbers taking part doubled, a trend organiser Mark Peters said he hoped would continue.

“The best night last year was 68 people and the worst night was 52.”

In 2015, the biggest turnout was 38 people.

He encouraged anyone with an interest in running or walking to join in the fun this time round.

“Anyone of any ability can take part. We have walkers and we have people running and walking,” he said.

“They just push themselves along, which is what it’s really about.”

The series, which takes place each Tuesday night until December 5, costs $2 per run.

Participants meet at the Caroline Bay Soundshell from 6pm for a 6.30pm start.

They follow a circuit around Caroline Bay and have their time recorded so they can work towards improving each week.
