Budding atheletes who have a duathlon on their bucket list can tick it off next month when the Every Woman’s Events set off from Woodbury Domain.
Every Woman’s Events, which previously only featured a duathlon, would this year also include a 5km and 10km walk/run on April 8.
Formerly named Every Woman’s Duathlon, this year it has been renamed Every Woman’s Events, but it is still a Woodbury School fundraising initiative.
Woodbury School support group chairman Bevan Brown said Every Woman’s Events would be a great way to kick-start training for the Spring hallenge multi-event.
“Whether you want to do the 5km or 10km run/walk or the full duathlon, the bonus with our event is that you are training in exactly the same climatic conditions as the Spring Challenge, which this year is being held in Geraldine.”
Although more seasoned competitors were encouraged to attend, the event is a great local entry level event.
“We have [changed] the courses slightly again this year to avoid any confusion on the final leg of the duathlon, plus we like to keep it fresh,” Mr Brown said.
The carefully planned duathlon route consists of a 3.5km walk/run, 12.5km cycle and a further 1.5km walk/run.
“A route map for the duathlon and the 5km, 10km and 21km events and suggested training programme was included on our website, which means you can train at your own pace, even on the route itself if you would like to, and all in our beautiful open spaces we are so lucky to have in Woodbury,” Mr Brown said.
