Timaru Yacht and Powerboat Club junior sailors took advantage of a break in the weather on Sunday and set sail along the shores of Caroline Bay.
Club committee member Rob Berger said the club was looking for more active junior sailors, children from ages 8 to 16.
Parents were also being encouraged to get involved, as the 2017-18 sailing season started on the last weekend of September, he said.
Mr Berger said he had five children in his family, aged 8 to 14, and all were involved in sailing.
“I get a bit of experience with them and so we help out with other kids as well.”
Taking to the water on Sunday were boats from the starling, p and optimist classes, Mr Berger said.
“Our junior sailors are eagerly anticipating the opening of the 2017-2018 sailing season.
“Prospective sailors and parents interested in sailing should call the yacht club for more information.”
