It was a transtasman bike polo battle at Caroline Bay over the weekend, when the Australasian Bike Polo tournament returned to Timaru.

Teams from New Zealand and Australia competed on the court for a place in the finals, held on Sunday.

The final was won by composite Timaru-Australian team Franz, which beat Melbourne’s Got Juice.

Franz was made up of Timaru’s Mike Broadhead, Sydney’s Jason Breton and Damon Rao of Melbourne.

Two Australian teams, Phantasmal Force and Wet Boys, played for third place which went to Wet Boys.

All four teams have now qualified to attend the World Hardcourt Bike Polo Championship in Argentina next year.
