Helen Mackle has been made a life member of the Temuka Athletic Club.
She was given the special recognition at the club’s end-of-season prizegiving at the Temuka Rugby Club’s rooms last month.
The Mid-South Canterbury Athletics Sub-Centre athletics secretary has been involved with the Temuka club for more than 20 years, since her daughter Nicola – who has gone on to play for the Tactix netball team – joined the club.
Mackle has been involved with the club as a volunteer, an official, committee member, secretary and team manager, as well as being an official for regional, national and international events including the IAAF Oceania Track and Field Championships overseas.
Mackle also chaired the local organising committee of the 2009 and 2015 NZSS Track and Field Championships in Timaru, as well as the annual Athletics New Zealand Lovelock Classic meet.
