Senior Seargent Dylan Murray, of Timaru,is looking to catch a thief responsible for a series of vehicle break-ins.
Snr Sgt Murray said seven vehicles parked in Ranui Ave, Grasmere St and Park Ln in Timaru had been broken into and small amounts of change and other miscellaneous property had been stolen overnight on October 19-20.
“Timaru police are looking to identify a male wearing dark clothing who was disturbed in Ranui Ave at about 5.20am on 20 October. This male ran off and was not located,” Snr Sgt Murray said.
“Police are interested in identifying this emerging offender, who is unlikely to cease committing similar offences in the future.
“Thieves will break in for something as small as loose change if it is visible inside a vehicle.”
Snr Sgt Murray encouraged vehicle owners to park their vehicles in well-lit areas, lock them and not leave any valuables inside.
He asked anyone with information relating to the thefts to contact the Timaru police station on 687-9808.
