Rugby and reading were on the menu for South Canterbury children last week, as school holiday programmes offered a variety of entertainment. The South Canterbury Rugby Football Union hosted a two-day training programme at Alpine Energy Stadium, while Timaru Public Library held a few book-themed craft sessions throughout the week. The library’s April holiday theme was New Zealand authors, so children, parents and caregivers were creating shark masks and fins after reading Margaret Mahy’s Great-White Man-Eating Shark. The Courier‘s Greta Yeoman took her camera along.
