Mountainview High School has acknowledged its international community.
The school’s second international day was held on Wednesday, with the aim of making it an annual event.
The school’s director of international pupils, John Wilson, said the aim of the day was to celebrate the cultural diversity of the school and give pupils an understanding of why international pupils came to the region.
‘‘The students run an assembly, organised the presentations themselves and generally showcase their own culture in their own way.’’
The assembly included items from the jazz band, dances from Brazilian pupils, an interview with German pupils, a presentation by pupils from Asia and a food-tasting competition from Thailand. At lunchtime a barbecue was run by the international pupils which included baking from their homelands.
