What's in a name? . . . Environment Canterbury is asking for ideas of what to call the new on-demand bus service.

Environment Canterbury is searching for a name for its new on-demand public transport service, which will begin in Timaru next year.

South Canterbury Operations Manager Judith Earl-Goulet says that Environment Canterbury is asking Timaru locals to name their service.

“On-demand public transport is all about improving public transport for Timaru, so it makes sense that those who will use it, name it.

“The flexibility of the new service means it will be suit more people, more often, with the convenience of being able to travel anywhere in Timaru,” she said.

“The service offers an enormous opportunity for Timaru citizens, and it’s going to mean thinking a little differently about how you get around.”

The competition is open until October 20, at NameMe.nz, or entries can be provided to Environment Canterbury. A prize of a two-night stay for four at the Tekapo Luxury Apartments is offered for the best name.
