Probus club turns 25

The Benvenue Probus Club Timaru has just celebrated its 25th year.
About 60 members gathered in the Grey Way Lounge at the Phar Lap Racecourse in Washdyke on Wednesday last week for a series of presentations, entertainment and a meal.
Benvenue Probus Club president Dick Dodds said the club was originally formed by Rotary members for retired members.

The Probus Club movement was born in the United Kingdom in 1965, its beginnings in two clubs both created by Rotary members.
In 1974, Probus expanded into New Zealand and The Probus Club of Benvenue was chartered on November 28, 1991.
