Old horses take bit of grooming

The iconic Caroline Bay merry-go-round horses are getting their new coats.

It is a painstakingly slow process for Caroline Bay Association volunteer Allen Martin and his partner Jadine Buckland, with some help from some other association volunteers, but they think they will have four of the 20 horses in their new colour schemes on the merry-go-round this Christmas.

Working most evenings on the project, the couple started off sanding layers of paint from the horses, but have since moved on to using a heat gun to speed up the process, and have finally been able to start painting horses in their new colour schemes.

Ms Buckland has also been working on applying the new colour schemes to the carousel, so it all starts to tie in together.
