New roundabout to improve safety

A new roundabout is taking shape in Timaru.
The roundabout, at the intersection of Grey Rd and Elizabeth St, was expected to be finished by the end of the month and would make the intersection safer for motorists, Timaru District Council land transport manager Andrew Dixon said.
Safety was one of the key issues.
“Police and [the] AA had both expressed concerns about the safety of this intersection, particularly with the recent increased traffic as a result of the new development [at The Landings] on the corner of Elizabeth St and State Highway 1,” he said.
“There are now about 2500 vehicles per day on Elizabeth St and 1900 on Grey [Rd], and so it was decided to put in a roundabout to improve the safety of those road users.
“This followed an intersection safety risk [review], which showed there had been some crashes there, including a serious injury one.”
The roundabout had been in planning since early last year, Mr Dixon said.Authentic Nike SneakersNike Air Jordan Retro 1 Red Black White – Buy Air Jordan 1 Retro (white / black / varsity red), Price: $60.85 – Air Jordan Shoes
