A possible amalgamation of sports bodies and the Timaru South Cosmopolitan Club is close to being decided.
“We’re in negotiation mode at the moment,” club secretary manager Wayne McBeath said.
“It’s happening fairly quickly, especially with the RSA focus changing, but I can’t make any comment.”
Earlier this year an email was sent to South Canterbury RSA members stating talks were being held with the Timaru South Cosmopolitan Club and sporting groups about a possible amalgamation.
The email said the proposed merger would be known as Clubs of Timaru, with the possibility of a building being constructed on land opposite the eastern side of the former Century Pool off Rose St.
