The Timaru Host Lions Club is on the lookout for new members.

The club has invited about 60 people to an information evening next week, to give them the chance to find out in a relaxed, casual atmosphere what being a Lion is about.

Member Margaret Littler said the club held a similar evening in 2017, which proved successful, nine new members joining the club, so it had been decided to repeat the formula.

The membership evening would include finger food and coffee, and a guest speaker who would explain what being a Lion meant to them.

Mrs Littler said it was important prospective members knew there was no pressure to commit to projects.

“It’s up to members to decide how much they can offer in terms of time. Nobody is pressured to put in more of their time than they are able. The fellowship is the key.”

The Timaru Host Lions Club was established in 1963, and has about 26 members at present. The group has monthly get-togethers over a meal and enjoys other social activities.

The information evening will be held at the South Canterbury Club on Wednesday, April 10, from 5.30pm to 7pm.

Anyone interested in attending the evening can contact Mrs Littler on (03) 684-3510 or 027221-6796.
