A Pleasant Point group which has gone into recess has left a legacy for the community to enjoy.

A large macrocarpa picnic table and bench seats were given to the community by members of the Tengawai Floral Art Group last week.

The group, which has folded due to a lack of membership, had the table and seats made using money left in its coffers, with the aim of benefiting the community for many years to come, life and founding member Marylyn Atkinson said.

The table, on Conroy’s Corner, on the corner of Halstead and Pleasant Point Highway, seats up to about 10 people.

It was presented to the community in a ceremony last Thursday, attended by art group and Pleasant Point Community Board representatives.

Board chairman Richard Lyon thanked the group on behalf of the community.

“I’m sure it will be well used and well looked after,” he said.Sports NewsAIR MAX PLUS
