Timaru Creative Fibre Group members have joined the knitting crusade, creating woollen twiddle-muffs for Alzheimers South Canterbury.
Twiddle-muffs are cylinder-shaped knitwear creations, featuring intricate details of ribbons and buttons, designed for people to admire and touch.
Thirty of the creations were presented to Alzheimers South Canterbury community liaison officer Barbara Fleming on Monday morning.
They would be distributed to people throughout the district who were on the group’s books and were likely to benefit from the creations, which were designed as a distraction.
“These are absolutely fantastic – the colours, the designs. People will have fun,” she said.
“And it’s lovely that they are all different.”
Timaru Creative Fibre Group, which meets on the first and third Monday of each month at the netball pavilion, next to the SBS Stadium, have a range of projects on the go, including weaving, spinning, felting and dyeing of wool.
The group has about 30 members and welcomes others to join in its many crafts.
