A variety of talent will soon be on show in Omarama.
‘We have the Waitaki Valley Singers and Mackenzie Warblers, poets, raconteurs and comedians, four pianists, ballet, tap and
highland dancing — a huge variety.’
The Valley Variety Show will be held on July 1 from 7pm, with organisers promising an exciting line-up. It is a fundraiser for the Omarama Community Centre.
Show organiser Kay Verheul, of Omarama, says she has brought back acts which were the highlights of the previous show and mixed in some new talent for this year’s line-up.
The inaugural, and previous, variety show was staged in 2014.
There were about 15 acts altogether, coming from Oamaru to Twizel, Mrs Verheul said.
‘‘We have the Waitaki Valley Singers and Mackenzie Warblers, poets, raconteurs and comedians, four pianists, ballet, tap and highland dancing — a huge variety.’’
The show will be staged in the recently refurbished hall which has been fitted out specifically to showcase community events.
The funds raised from the show are to be put towards a modern and permanent heating system for the hall.
‘‘There will be a large selection of spot prizes on numbered tickets and, at interval, a beautiful highcountry supper.
‘‘It promises to be a highly entertaining, midwinter fun family night out,’’ she said.
There would be door sales, but tickets sold quickly at the last show, she said. – Tickets are $20 for an adult and $2 per child.
