Play should soon be a lot more educational for youngsters at Timaru’s Teen Study Group, thanks to a donation from the Zonta Club of Timaru.
As one of its initiatives to support women and children in the local community, Zonta has given $450 to the group to spend on educational toys.
Study group co-ordinator Kay Kelliher said the donation was particularly timely as she was keen to see some of the plastic toys at the unit replaced with more solid, wooden, educational toys.
“The donation helps our little people to be actively engaged while their mothers study,” Ms Kelliher said.
Zonta supports groups including Grandparents Parenting Grandchildren, Look Good Feel Better, CCS Disability Action, Mental Health Inpatients Unit, Timaru Addiction Services and Alzheimers South Canterbury.
