5 Questions with…
Ballantynes visual merchandiser Rebecca Stephens

What does your role with the window display involve?
I am the visual merchandiser for the entire Timaru branch of Ballantynes, which means it’s my job to keep the shop, including the windows, looking beautiful.
The windows are usually planned between head office and myself, then I prep and install them.
The Christmas windows, however, are special.
The Christmas windows are designed by Chris and Lyndie Parker, window-dressing artists from Rangiora.
I assist with some of the prep and installation.

What do you enjoy about your involvement with the display?
I love the fact I never know what the theme for the Christmas window is going to be each year, so it’s always a lovely surprise!

What are some of the comments you have heard from children or families when they see the display for the first time?
The children are usually pretty quiet, too busy looking at all the characters!

Where do the characters and props come from?
Chris and Lyndie create these themselves in their workshop.

If you could spend Christmas anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I’d love to spend Christmas on a tropical island, lying in the sun with a cocktail in my hand!
