Altrusa Timaru has cottoned on to a great fundraising initiative.
The women’s group will hold its fifth Fabric Bazaar on April 22 and all money raised from the event will go to Heart Kids South Canterbury.
For the past few months Altrusa members have been collecting fabric to sell at the fundraiser and a huge range of materials has been donated by the community.
President Jenny Bevin said the group had been pleased by the support.
“We have had a wonderful response,” Mrs Bevin said.
“It’s the best response we’ve ever had.”
She said people would be able to buy cottons, linens, corduroy, furnishing fabrics, laces, buttons and knitting needles.
In the past the event had raised about $1500.
“That’s pretty good because we don’t sell the goods for over $5.”
The bazaar will be held at the Celtic Sports Centre from 9am to noon.
