An extra set of ukulele sessions is being added to the mix in Geraldine.
The Ukulele People, which comprises Hugh and Fi McCafferty, will host monthly strum-along sessions at The Running Duck, in addition to their popularsessions at the Timaru library.
Mr McCafferty said the Ukulele Festival held in Geraldine last month prompted the new monthly session, which would take place from this Sunday, at 2pm.
‘‘It’s piggy-backing off the success of having people playing there at the Ukulele Festival,’’ Mr McCafferty said.
The duo were preparing material for the event so people could have music in front of them while playing their ukulele or guitar, he said.
Also proving popular was the group’s Timaru ukulele sessions.
‘‘We have been running similar sessions at the Timaru library on the second and fourth Sundays [of each month], starting at 1.30pm for beginners, with the main session at 2pm.’’
