Time is running out for those wanting to register for a special Temuka event.
The Temuka Schools 150th Reunion will be held on October 21 to 22 and there are only three weeks left to register for the celebrations.
Temuka Primary School secretary Rae Winkelman said registrations for the reunion closed on September 1 and she encouraged former pupils and staff to sign up.
‘‘Temuka Primary School and Opihi College [previously known as Temuka High School] invite you to attend their forthcoming jubilee celebrations.
‘‘We have an exciting programme organised,’’ she said.
On Friday, October 21, attendees can collect their registration packs at Opihi College, Richard Pearse Dr, from 1.30pm view the college facilities and view old photos.
‘‘This will be followed by the mix and mingle from 7pm to midnight in the marquee to be erected at the primary school site.’’
A lunch will be held at noon on the following day for teachers and former staff of the schools. This will be followed by the official opening of the reunion, including the dedication of a tree donated by Fonterra Clandeboye, to be planted in the Temuka Domain.
The afternoon will also include decade photos, cake-cutting and a cup of tea.
‘‘In the evening, it’s then time to gather in the marquee at the primary school site and enjoy some music, dancing and food.’’
A jubilee booklet will also be available for sale at at the event, containing the schools’ history and photographs taken during the celebrations.
‘‘The jubilee committee is very excited about plans for this weekend as registrations are coming along nicely, but we urge our locals to get theirs in place, as this will assist the planning required for such a large event.’’
Mrs Winkelman said former pupils should get together a group of their old school friends. – Registrations can be made atwww.imthere.co.nz or call to pick up a paper registration from the Temuka Primary School or Opihi College offices.
