The award-winning transformation of an Arthur St building involved a variety of work by Ranger Specialist Coatings.
The company, which won the commercial rework exterior — contemporary section at the annual New Zealand Master Painters Awards, recently held in Fiji, has worked for several months on the project.
The surface defects of the building were rectified with an epoxy crack injection filling to restore the structural integrity and create a smooth surface.
For added weather protection, the parapets, column caps and bands were also waterproofed with a two-part waterbased epoxy coating.
The client selected Accumen bands to add character and detail around the new aluminum windows and completed the groundwork preparation of the facade, ready for a specialised two-coat plaster system.
Finally, the facelift was complete and as each paint colour was applied, the facade started to pop into life, enhancing the building’s new look and all the underlying groundwork.
Ranger Specialist Coatings managing director Brad Sandri said it had been a huge honour for the team to receive recognition of their skills and workmanship in the industry, while in the company of other leading painting and decorating businesses from throughout New Zealand.
The event was attended by many of the largest painting and decorating companies in New Zealand and judges commented on the high level of workmanship and attention to detail of this year’s entries.
