Air and Power Industrial Ltd, a specialist pneumatics company situated in Barnard St, Timaru, is relocating to new premises at the port to support its expansion ‘ For our customers it will mean more time for our skilled technicians to focus on servicing and repairing our customers’ plant and equipment, either on their site or ours. Our new location offers the workshop space to expand, which will allow us to increase our number of trained
technicians in the pneumatic and water pressure market. ‘

Initially specialising in the sales of air and power equipment, Air and Power has evolved into a specialist business providing pneumatics sales, service and hire in the South Canterbury region. As well as pneumatics, Air and Power is a specialist in the sale, service, lease and repair of steam and water blasters. Air and Power is also the agent for Airliquide, supplying industrial gases including oxygen, acetylene, argon and carbon dioxide to customers’ doorsteps in the South Canterbury region.
When talking about what the move will mean for Air and Power, owner Damon Odey explains.
‘‘This move will give us more capacity for growth. We are South Canterbury’s number one pneumatic specialists, offering industry-trained pneumatic technicians and a highly-skilledteam to support local industries, from sales, through to service and repairs.
‘‘In order to support our growth plans, we need a workshop and location that will enable us to continue to expand our current and future services, to both our existing and future customers. Our new location will allow that.
‘‘The move will also give an increased level of support from an administration and wholesale outlet perspective.’’
The business was founded in the early 1980s and bought by Damon in 2012.
‘‘Historically, the business has been strong in pneumatic equipment sales. However, there is huge potential in the commercial/industrial service sector, with the many large companies in our region requiring pneumatic services. This is where we will be focusing our continued growth in the years to come.’’
From an Air and Power customer perspective, the positives of the move are many.
‘‘For our customers it will mean more time for our skilled technicians to focus on servicing and repairing our customers’ plant and equipment, either on their site or ours. Our new location offers the workshop space to expand, which will allow us to increase our number of trained technicians in the pneumatic and water pressure market.’’
As well as a larger workshop, the move will also allow for a bigger and more diverse wholesale outlet for parts, consumables and equipment and removes the constraints of growth for a commercial and industrial business that occurs while operating within the central business district. All of this located next to one of South Canterbury’s largest and most experienced engineering companies.
‘‘We look forward to welcoming our customers to our new premises on Hayes St and continuing to grow this locallyowned business to ensure it can continue to meet the pneumatic needs of our vibrant and prosperous region.’’
Air and Power will begin operating from its new premises at 75 Hayes St from Monday, August 8. Copy: Supplied
