Learning to make the cut

Tree pruning will be the focus of a workshop in Timaru this week.
Professional horticulturist Natasha Briggs will host the event, in conjunction with The Community Crop, at the Leckie St community orchard on Sunday.
The Community Crop committee members, who were working to establish a vegetable garden in Timaru, had initiated the pruning workshop to help launch the concept.
Co-ordinator Sophie Newmarch said while the aim was to teach and inform the community, it was also designed so people could meet the team at The Community Crop and learn what type of environment members wanted to create.
She encouraged people to bring their own pruning tools if they had some.
The workshop, taking place at 1.30pm, would focus on the pruning and nourishing of trees, along with disease and pest prevention.
People who want to attend must register their interest by emailing thecommunitycrop@gmail.com or by texting 027 938-8248. Entry was by a donation of money or koha — home baking or a gold coin.Sportswear Designnike fashion
