Donations flow in for auction

Artists are contributing a vast array of works in support of this month’s Mackenzie Art Auction.
‘ The kids’ work is just
fantastic. ‘
Organisers have been ‘‘swamped’’ with donations of art for the fundraising event, taking place at Mackenzie College on August 18.
Mackenzie College’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) was behind the twoyearly event.
PTA member Lorraine Herlund said organisers were ‘‘knee deep’’ in donated items of art, with more than 100 items to be auctioned off.
‘‘It’s fantastic. What a great complaint,’’ she said.
PTA member Sue Tennent said a selection of wonderful art had been received.
Artists from Lake Tekapo and Fairlie were among those who had been generous towards the cause, along with pupils from Mackenzie College, who had created works for the occasion.
‘‘The kids’ work is just fantastic,’’ Mrs Herlund said.
A Wellington artist, who has also donated a collection of her pottery works, was among those getting behind the cause.
Funds from this year’s event would go to the college’s art department and other areas.
The works will be available for viewing at the Mackenzie College hall on August 17, from 12pm to 3pm. The auction will take place the following day. Doors open at 6pm, starting with a silent auction and the public auction will follow at 7pm.
‘‘Every bid will help, so don’t be shy. An exciting evening is to be expected,’’ Mrs Herlund said.Sports Shoes30 Winter Outfit Ideas to Kill It in 2020 – Fashion Inspiration and Discovery
