All runs are groomed regularly with our PB400 Groomer, which makes for a fun and fantastic ski and board experience.
Whether you are a skier, snowboarder or sightseer, Mt Dobson is like visiting another world and leaving all your worries behind.
Mt Dobson is a commercial ski area located in a 3km-wide, southwest-facing basin in the Two Thumb range between Fairlie and Lake Tekapo.
Its base facilities are situated at a very high altitude of 1725m and are serviced by 15km of well-maintained access road, which is clearly signposted from SH8 between Christchurch and Queenstown.

Mt Dobson ski area collects fantastic powder and offers epic views and wicked trails, skiing and boarding enjoyment for all abilities.
The ski area was developed in the 1970s by the Foote family and is a major asset for South Canterbury and only an hour’s drive from Timaru.
Mt Dobson is a must-do for people to visit this winter, to try skiing, snowboarding or just watching. Its alpine road is easily accessible by any two-wheel drive car with tyre chains.
The ski area’s facilities include: – Hire ski and snowboards, protective equipment and a range of clothing available. – Snow School — fancy some lessons to get you started? Not a problem. We offer private or group lessons under the direction of our very experienced snow school manager, Adam Cuff, and his team of international instructors. Bookings are not essential. – A cafe, to relax and unwind or take a break. We offer hot food and beverages and confectionery is available.
Getting to the mountain is easy and safe, drive up the wellmaintained road with plenty of car parking space on your arrival. If you don’t own a 4WD, not a worry. You can hire chains from the ski shack in the town centre of Fairlie.
On arrival, see the girls at the ticket office. They will organise everything you need such as lift passes, rentals and lesson bookings.

1km triple chairlift up the west valley with our natural half pipe beneath, our faithful Rolls Roycepowered T-bar up to the ridge for the more experienced skier and boarder.
First timers, our beginners’ rope tow is free of charge, then after a short time you will be able to move up to our large intermediate sunny slope accompanied with platter lift.
All-day lift passes are adults $80, youth $46 and children $28.
