Salon owner achieving her dreams

Timaru salon owner Keri Soesdorp is living her dream after opening the doors to her own hair and beauty salon.
‘ I always loved working in the salons, but I always wanted to [own my own], ever since 2011. It was just a passion I had — I wanted to buy my own salon and I’ve done it, and it’s
exciting ‘
Keri took ownership of Ruby Tuesday Hair & Beauty, in Highfield, Timaru, on June 10, and officially welcomed her first customer on June 13.
Business ownership was her goal when she signed up for a hairdressing course at Aoraki Polytechnic in 2011. Since then, she has worked in various salons, always working towards one day buying her own.
‘‘I always loved working in the salons, but I always wanted to [own my own], ever since 2011. It was just a passion Ihad — I wanted to buy my own salon and I’ve done it, and it’s exciting,’’ she said.
She puts her success down to perseverance and her ability to avoid barriers.
‘‘If you don’t put barriers up for
yourself, you can achieve anything — you’ve just got to set yourself to do it.’’
Keri is supported by a team of stylists, including Anna Richardson, Gemma Robertson and Trudy Mitchell, who returned to the salon last week after leaving two years ago.
In addition to the team, Riki Arras also works in the salon trading as R A Hair, under the umbrella of Ruby Tuesday Hair and Beauty.
The salon is open Monday to Saturday, with late nights on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
