Dedication to quality restoration

Recently launched Timaru business Mr Jones Furniture & Restoration is mixing old with new.
‘While the furniture is still crafted by the same dedicated team, the keys to the workshop have been handed over to Mr Jones and a new generation business has been born ‘
The company, based at the Ken Wills Complex, Washdyke, has continued on the Ken Wills Furniture tradition —ensuring customers still have access to quality local furniture, but under a new name.
That name represents Aaron Jones, who has been a cornerstone of the Ken Wills team for the past 17 years.
During that time, Mr Jones honed his craft and established a passion for furniture-making in both recycled rimu and American oak, under Ken’s watchful eye.
While the furniture is still crafted by the same dedicated team, the keys to the workshop have been handed over to Mr Jones and a new generation business has been born.
The dedicated team, which still specialises in made-toorder pieces, designed to individual tastes and specialised spaces, have a combined 66 years’ experience in the industry.
That team includes furniture sprayer Bill Gibbs, who has clocked up 35 years’ experience, and furniture maker Ben Bruce, who has been in the industry for 14 years.
Mr Jones was grateful to his team for joining him in his new business venture.
Mr Jones learnt his trade in the same workshop he now has the keys to, and where he has developed an ever-growing passion for the industry.
It is where his creative ideas
flow, develop and take shape.
Mr Jones keeps an eye on the latest trends, which inspire him while he develops his own creations.
‘‘We still carry on the same traditional style that Ken Wills used to do, and one-off pieces, and also the contemporary style furniture.’’
Recent projects of Mr Jones have also been in the hospitality industry.
Mr Jones Furniture & Restoration specialises in restoration projects, including resurfacing, repairs, alterations and spray painting.
Bespoke items can also be made to order and the team offers a variety of finishes and colours.
Timber recycled from the Christchurch earthquakes was also used for some the specialised creations and a selection of smaller items of furniture were available, perfect for that special gift.
