High school-age actors took to the stage for the Aoraki heats of the Sheilah Winn Shakespeare competition on April 4.

Held at Craighead Diocesan School, 15 teams from Twizel Area School, Roncalli College, Craighead, Ashburton College, Geraldine High School and Mt Hutt College took part.

Twizel Area School pupils won the 15min section with a performance from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, while Geraldine High School placed first in the 5-minute section after their short rendition of Twelfth Night

Craighead’s Prue Scott won the student direct entry to the final.

The winners from the Aoraki heats will compete in the national final in Wellington over Easter weekend.
