Amateur country musicians will be busy preparing to compete over Easter.
The Southern Alps Country Music Awards will be held on March 31 and April 1.
Auditions will begin on the morning of March 31.
Competitors in the Caroline Bay Hall will be accompanied by Tight Azz, while those showing off their talents in the nearby lounge will be backed by Sha-low.
The amateur event welcomes competitors from age 3 upwards across a variety of sub-genres.
Sections include solo, duo and groups, gospel, traditional, country rock, instrumental, variety and rock and roll.
Auditions on the Saturday night will be held at the South Canterbury RSA, with backing band Sha-low.
There will be more auditions on Sunday morning at the Caroline Bay Hall, with support from Tight Azz.
The band will provide backing musicians for the awards’ finals concert on Sunday, April 1, at the hall from 6pm. Entries for the competition are closed.
Tickets for the final concert will be available from Caroline Bay Hall over Easter Weekend.
