Pupils preparing for production

It is a case of lights, camera and action as Grantlea Downs School pupils prepare to bring their latest production to the stage.
Children have been rehearsing for their Cinderella-themed production, Head Over Heels, throughout the term, in time for its first showing on September 14.
The storyline for Head Over Heels is the work of new-entrants teacher Raewyn Guise, who has written the play, based on the character of Cinderella.
Children in years 6-8 auditioned for the various roles and were now perfecting their specified parts, an experience they were enjoying, senior syndicate teacher Kirsty White said.
The production was part of the school’s calendar every second year, and this year’s rehearsals were well and truly under way.
‘‘We have our main cast and we have a chorus; and they do the opening and the finale,’’ she said.
‘‘And there’s the chance to get in and work behind the scenes. They can do running, and costume or lighting and sound.
‘‘They like that they can participate that way.’’
Head Over Heels will take place at the school on September 14-15, with sessions at 1pm and 7pm on both days.
