Divas through the decades is the theme of the next Operatunity concert coming to Timaru later this month.
Timaru’s July 31 show, at the Theatre Royal, will feature The Epiphanies – Rebecca Wright, Sharon Emirali and Gail Tipene.
Wright has performed with Operatunity before and was looking forward to having the other two women along.
“I love the harmonies that three women can create, but more than that, it is just so nice to work alongside friends.”
The trio has mostly performed corporate gigs, so had been looking forward to going to tour, she said.
They would be joined by Operatunity favourites Bonaventure Allan-Moetaua and Tainui Kuru, along with the Glenn Miller Band.
“This concert is lots of fun tunes, costumes and choreography with the tight harmonies of The Andrews Sisters, the swagger of the ’50s and the frivolity of the ’60s and ’70s.”
Songs on the line-up would include Summertime and We’ll Meet Again from the 1940s, along with Mister Sandman, Cry Me a River and Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend from the 1950s.
The 1960s would be recalled in a range of tunes including These Boots are Made for Walkin‘, and I Say a Little Prayer , while an ABBA medley and Natural Woman would be among the songs from the 1970s.
The Timaru concert will begin at 11am on Wednesday, July 31.
